Achievement

Randwick Council collects stormwater and uses it to water areas in and around Yarra Bay Bicentennial Park. This includes Yarra Bay Oval, and picnic and park areas around the park. This project will save up to 27 million litres of drinking water a year and improve the quality of water entering Yarra Bay.

Summary

The Stormwater harvesting project consisted of the demolition of approximately 1.5m of existing 1950mm diameter drainage pipe downstream of existing headwall, Install submersible pumps, install DN 140 rising main from off take structure, install concrete tanks, install electrical and communications conduit and cables, install backwash gravity pipeline, install DN 40 rising main from sludge tank to the off take screen tank, install DN 90 rising main from 100 KL storage tank via UV disinfection to existing irrigation valve box at Yarra Oval and to existing water storage tanks located south of the Oval, install all switches and valves for tanks.
