South Windsor Sewerage Treatment Plant


The existing South Windsor Sewage Treatment Plant complex is located off Fairey Road, Bligh Park, South Windsor. The plant services the South Windsor Catchment and some transferred flows from McGraths Hill STP. Septic wastewater from Glossodia, Freemans Reach and Wilberforce and outlying areas are also transferred to the plant. Several deficiencies existed with the current Biosolids treatment and handling facilities at South Windsor STP. Hawkesbury City Council commissioned NSW Public Works to provide a concept report on upgrades required to remove these deficiencies.


MMA Civil Contractors were engaged to resolve the deficiencies highlighted by the council by completing complex works including; The construction of WAS Balance tank, WAS transfer pumps, centrifuge dewatering system, Polymer storage, batching and dosing system; Dewatered cake conveyor system for transfer from the centrifuges to handling, storage and out-loading facilities; Handling bay – bunded and hardstand area for dewatered cake storage and handling; Building for the housing of dewatering and polymer dosing equipment and electrical Switchroom; Facilities to enable WAS to be diverted from the WAS balance tank to the existing sludge lagoon for emergency storage and subsequent supernatant return to the plant inlet works; Associated pipework, valves and fittings; Instrumentation for monitoring and control of Biosolids equipment, facilities and processes; Electrical services for the control and monitoring of operation of the Biosolids treatment and handling facilities, including power supply and interfacing with HCC’s existing SCADA system; Access road extension and/or upgrading to allow heavy vehicle access; and associated site services including area lighting, water supply and drainage.
